Rawcliffe Meadows 2013

Rawcliffe Meadows Nature Park is located in York, to the north west of the city centre.

Established in 1991, it covers 25 acres of the Clifton floodplain. The park is owned by the Environment Agency and leased to Sustrans, the cycle track operator. The site is managed by Friends of Rawcliffe Meadows, a voluntary group belonging to the York Natural Environment Trust.

As well as providing access to open countryside for local people, with the site well-used by families, cyclists and joggers, Rawcliffe Meadows is managed as a traditional Ings flood meadow under the Countryside Stewardship scheme.

From the new meadow to the copse to the pond, the site’s range of habitats are also vital for many different species of wildlife.
